As Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand, there is plenty for you and your family/friends to do here. Whether it's dining at one of our world class restaurants, surfing our beautiful beaches or hiking through our lush forests, we have something for everyone! Working as an Auckland Doctor means that you have the opportunity to rotate through any one of our three DHB's, which will give you exposure to a variety of different specialties and cultures.

Working as a House Officer

By joining the Auckland Region as a House Officer, you will be placed in one of our world renowned teaching hospitals: North Shore, Waitakere, Auckland City, Starship Children's and Middlemore. Come and experience our diverse demographic population and a variety of presentations and pathologies.

Vacancies and Runs

House Officer runs in the Auckland region are three months in length, following which you may rotate into a different run. Example run descriptions for the 2017 training year can be viewed here. Please note that although your preferences will be taken into consideration, this cannot be guaranteed, and you will need to be prepared to accept any available vacant position.

We are recruiting House Officers who want to work in Auckland starting at one of the four quarters. Ideally

  • You will hold General Scope with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for General Scope registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, more information on registration requirements can be viewed here.
  • Have at least two years' experience as a House Officer.

When completing your application you will be asked to select what quarters you are available to start work in.

The quarter start dates are as below:

Quarter 1: 27th November 2017

Quarter 2: 26th February 2018

Quarter 3: 28th May 2018

Quarter 4: 27th August 2018
