Middlemore Hospital is the largest hospital operated
by CMDHB serving aroud half a million people. The hospital
offers secondary-level (hospital and specialist) care, a selected
range of community and domiciliary services, and also provides
niche specialist tertiary services for regional and national
consumers. Middlemore hospital is well known internationally for
their work in orthopaedics and spinal injury rehabilitation, as
well as being the site of the National Burns Centre. They also
provide other specialist services such as neonatal intensive care,
renal dialysis, plastics, reconstructive and maxillofacial surgery
together with general surgery, medicine, acute care, paediatric,
emergency care, and mental health.
Middlemore Hospital is one of the largest tertiary teaching
hospitals in New Zealand. Annually, the hospital admits more than
91,000 in-patients, and handle in excess of 354,000 day-patients
