Anaesthesia SHO

Auckland region positions commence in November 2018 and May 2019. Job applications must be made through this website from 16 April to 13 May 2018.

Typically as a Senior House Officer in Anaesthesia you will complete 2 x six month runs, building your basic skills and experience. The second 6 months will be accredited towards your ANZCA training with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. At the end of the 12 months you will have the opportunity to apply for an Anaesthesia Registrar position and potentially be accepted onto the Anaesthesia Training programme as a registrar.

Who should apply?

  • If you want to train in Anaesthesia and are currently a House Officer Year 2+ in Australasia
  • If you want to train in Anaesthesia and do not have 12 month’s accredited training time as an Anaesthesia Registrar in Australasia or CT2 in the UK/Ireland
  • If you are eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Anaesthesia Registrar

Auckland region positions commence in December 2018 and June 2019. Job applications must be made through this website from 16 April to 13 May 2018.

Who should apply?

  • If you will have completed 12 months in an Anaesthesia SHO position within the Auckland region by December 2018 and wish to commence a Registrar position at that time
  • If you want to relocate to the Auckland region and continue your training in anaesthesia and have at least 12 months in anaesthesia at Registrar level in a training position in Australasia or the UK
  • If you are eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • If you are eligible for registration with Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (please check this before applying if you are from overseas)

Dental Health House Officer 

Auckland region positions commence in January 2018.

The Dental HO training year provisionally starts on 14th January 2019 and goes through to 24th January 2020.

Dental applications provisionally will open around the 16th July 2018 and close on 27th July 2018.

Interviews will occur around the 24th August in conjunction with the NZDA Employment Fair.

 

 

Emergency Medicine Registrar

  • If you have completed at least 3 months in Emergency Medicine runs (Paediatric Emergency Medicine is counted) by December 2018

House Officers

Most Auckland region positions commence in November 2018. However, we also offer positions for starts in February, May and August of the following year.  Job applications must be made through this website from 16 April to 13 May 2018.

Who should apply?

  • If you will be in your second year as a House Officer in Australia or New Zealand on your intended start date (e.g. November 2018) and want to relocate to the Auckland region
  • If you will be in your first year as a House Officer in Australia or New Zealand on your intended start date (e.g. November 2018) and are on track to gain your general scope of practice by November 2018 and want to relocate to the Auckland region
  • If you will have completed your second year as a House Officer overseas and would be on a General Pathway with MCNZ (via the Competent Authority or Comparable Pathway) by your intended start date (e.g. November 2018) and have general registration and want to relocate to the Auckland region

Intensive Care Medicine Registrar

If you would like an ICU run for the 2019 training year you will be required to express your interest online through this website from 16 April to 13 May 2018. You will require an admission interview and therefore you must provide an updated CV and references online.

Intensive Care Medicine SHO (CVICU at ADHB)

Auckland region positions commence in November 2018. Applications must be made through this website from 16 April to 13 May 2018.

Who should apply?

  • If you want to gain an introduction to intensive care medicine at an early stage of your career to help decide if it is the right choice for you
  • If you will have at least 24 months in HO or SHO runs preferably with some exposure to Acute care by November 2018
  • If you are eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand

  • It is expected that subject to satisfactory performance, CVICU SHOs will progress following this position into either their first ICU Registrar position or, in selected circumstances, into an Anaesthesia SHO position.
  • Candidates will need to apply for ICU or Anaesthesia positions separately for the second half of the year and, if successful, go through two separate interview processes.

Applying for the first time?

College registrations open in January 2018 and close in February 2018. College applications open in March and close in March 2018.  If you have applied, please liaise with the College regarding the status of your application.

Allocated to the Auckland region by RACS?

The College confirms allocations at different times from July onwards each year. Once their ‘list’ of allocations is sent to us we will contact you to confirm the next step of the process.
