Working as an Emergency Medicine Registrar
By joining the Auckland Region as an Emergency Medicine Registrar, you enter a programme with rotations through world renowned teaching hospitals: North Shore, Waitakere, Auckland City, Starship and Middlemore. All Auckland region hospitals are located within a 30 kilometre radius of each other. Come and experience our diverse demographic population and a variety of presentations and pathologies.
Our training programme
We take an interest in your career aspirations and we will guide you in an environment that is enthusiastic, supportive as well as providing ongoing training within all our hospitals in Auckland. As we have full accreditation with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, you will also have the option to fulfill all your training requirements in Auckland. Our regional Emergency Medicine training programme offers structured part 1 and 2 exam preparation. In addition there are various courses which are recommended as part of ongoing training such as APLS and EMST.
As part of the programme trainees receive departmental Continuing Medical Education (2 hours a week) and part one and part two College exam preparations (2 hours a week) as protected "off -floor" teaching and frequent on-floor teaching and feedback.
- You need to complete preferably at least 3 months in Emergency Medicine runs (Paediatric Emergency Medicine is counted).
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Check if you're eligible here.
